QR AC16 221A

The 2-8-2 AC16 class came to Queensland Railways in 1943 in the midst of the Pacific war. 20 were delivered from Baldwin
in the USA under Lend-Lease arrangements with the USA government.They retained their US Army numbers 216-235 with an 'A' added to distinguish them from QR locos
with the same numbers. Except for 225A whic was withdrawn in 1957, all lasted until the later 1960s. 221A was rebuilt by QR a few years ago and 218A operates at the
Zig Zag Railway in NSW. In the 1950s old C16 and B17 tenders were used to allow them to run faster than 50km/h. Use my C16-B17 tender 96997:1068.
