Starting Setup

Switchers Nightmare puzzle based on the original by Linn Westcott in the 101 Trackplans for Model Railroaders book and recently redone as the Highland Terminal by Scot Osterweil. The switching puzzle concept is simple in that the 10 cars sitting on the two yard spurs (2 lower left tracks as you are looking down at the trackplan) need to be swapped out with the same type cars on the industrial spurs. The spacing is a little more forgiving on this version due to the Trainz turnout control space requirement. It is pretty close though to the original and should take at least 1 hour to complete. The only rule is that the exit track not be used at any time, the switch is rightfully named - no cheating, and is obvious. There is an AI train running in the background that serves no purpose other than to distract the user. For more info go to http://carendt.us/articles/highland/.
