At the expansive yard and car servicing facility in Golden, loaded westbound coal trains have an extra loco added to the head end of the train behind the lead locomotive to assist with the climb over the Mountain and Shuswap Subdivisions. You are at Horse Creek, south of Golden on the Windermere Sub, with a loaded coal train for the port at Vancouver. Having just met a train of empties heading south, you can now proceed to Golden and cut in the helper for the journey west.
