Hot Wheels Railroad DRGW Caboose

A caboose is a crewed railcar coupled at the end of freight trains. These help to provide shelter for the crew at the end of the train who were required for shifting and switching duties, look out for load shifting, damage to equipment and cargo or check on overheating axles; these could also serve as accommodation for railroad workers on long haul shifts as well as acting as a conductor's office. With the advent of defect detectors and end-of-train devices and regulations requiring cabooses to be on the end of trains relaxed, the caboose was phased out of use; these are now mainly used on heritage railroads and for rail maintenance trains.

This model depicts a standard cupola caboose with a black smokestack. Pushing the smokestack in causes a brakeman to emerge from the caboose.
