Tonopah & Tidewater - Nevada Section 2019
This layout decipts the route of the Bullfrog Goldfield and Las Vegas & Tonopah Railroads between Springdale and Goldfield, NV circa 1915. Inspired by the real-life HO scale layout created by Nevin Wilson in 2018.

Way back in 1900, the last great holdout of the 'Wild West' took place in Central Nevada, where the discovery of great lodes of silver and gold caused people to flock out West in the hopes of striking it rich. Several boom towns have formed as a result, most notably Tonopah, Goldfield and Rhyolite, to name a few.
Several railroads built their tracks into the area as a result, the Las Vegas & Tonopah from the east, the Tonopah & Tidewater/Bullfrog Goldfield Railroad from the south, and the Tonopah & Goldfield Railroad from the north. All these tracks reached the boomfields too late however, and within 10 to 20 years after the ore ran out, all the towns shriveled away and dissapeared into the sands of the lonely desert.
This layout decipts the Bullfrog-Goldfield region as it was circa 1916. By this time, there was a mixed train every day that delivered goods and passengers into the Bullfrog Mining District, and took whatever little ore they did out.
At this time, the LV&T was dying out and most trains were pulled by either Bullfrog-Goldfield or T&T locomotives. The LV&T would give up the ghost by 1918, and the Bullfrog-Goldfield managed to last till about 1928, after which all tracks between Beatty and Goldfield were taken up.
Operations on this line during this time period, would consist of one mixed train each direction per day, bringing several boxcars to be loaded at different places along the line, and then adding them back on to your train as you head back up in the opposite direction after turning around on the wye.
