MagLev - Lathen Test Track, Germany

Welcommen to Lathen. At this facility the famous MagLev train was developed and tested, before being selected for operational service in Shanghai, China.

The track is linear with twin balloon loops at each end. The northern loop can be negotiated at maximum speed, but the south loop is of tighter radius with a maximum permissable speed of 400kmh. After entering a loop, press the 'J' key to switch the junction so you can exit the loop without a fatal accident. The junctions are linked, so the next loop will be set correctly to enter that loop.
For signalling, use the 'mc custom hud' display to monitor what the state of the next signal is. Dwarf type signals have been used to provide a visual reference when required, but they are hard to see from the cabin of the MagLev.

Your number one priority is safety. Shareholders will not tolerate another fatal accident, the one in 2006 was bad enough. Remember that there is a third intersection located along the straight part of the test track that gives access to the depot area - ensure it is set to straight while high speeds are are being used, as entering the depot area at half the speed of sound will cause technical problems.

There are two sessions, the 'base session' which can be used to build your own sessions or dive straight into an 8am test drive, and the 'Lathen guest ride' session, in which AI will drive the MagLev around the track.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: The scenery around the test track has been built to a basic standard in order to facilitate high frame rates on low
power computers. This is intentional. I was intending to recreate the Pudong Airport link in Shanghai, but other projects are taking my time at the moment. The test track will have to suffice for the time being. I hope you have fun with it.
