37-2 Shay

This is a narrow gauge Class 37-2 Shay locomotive built in 1904 by the Lima Locomotive Works. This locomotive operated between 1904 and 1924 for the Uintah Railway in Mack, CO. The Uintah Railway hauled Gilsonite out of the mountains of Eastern Utah to Mack, CO where it was transferred over to the standard gauge of the D&RG. Finally she was retired in 1924 after the railroad shutdown when it became cheaper for trucks to haul the gilsonite.
