MAS Highland Railway Handcart BR Brown Tipped
The luggage handcart is a pretty constant feature in photos of Highland Railway stations right through from the early days to the start of the 1980s. There are many detail differences, possibly down to repairs, and three basic liveries I’ve so far proof of; Highland ‘purple-brown’, LMS grey, and BR freight stock brown, though in this far-flung area of the network there were overlaps, with two liveries side by side – there was still one in LMS grey at Aviemore as late as 1974! They tended to be tipped when not in use (and most typically stowed under the stairs of the footbridge where there was one), and here's a BR brown one in that position.
