The New York State Inebriate Asylum was built in 1863 and was declared a national
historic landmark in 1997. The castle-like building housed the nations first hospital intended
strictly to treat alcoholism as a disease. Later known as Binghamton State Hospital the gothic
revival building was designed by Isaac Pery. Located high on hospital hill the structure is easily
visible from the trackage that runs along court street. This is a back dated version of an item
made by request for the D&H route being developed by ModelerMJ.
