This is a much simplified version of the Goethals Lift Bridge over the Aurthur Kill
between Staten Island, NY and Elizabeth, NJ.This replaced a swing bridge built in 1890. It is normally open
and closes in 30 seconds at the approach of a train. Height should be adjusted so the water level is about
30 ft below the bottom of the 200 ft thru plate girder. This version most closely resembles the actual span.
