SF CDR Third 58

Company: County Donegal Railways Joint Committee. Gauge: Three feet. Third class seven-bay carriage no 58 was bought second-hand from the Ulster Transport Authority in 1951. It had originally been built by the LMS Northern Counties Committee on an 1874 Ballymena & Larne Railway coach underframe and numbered 318. Its original task was forming part of the Larne to Ballymena narrow-gauge boat train. It had a slightly lower roof height to that of the usual CDR stock, and was longer than most, being 41 feet 3 inches. It was sold in the 1961 auction and eventually came to be cut in half to be used as holiday chalets. Both halfs have survived and been reunited for preservation.
