V & T 24ft Flat Car; slate

A 24 foot flat car used on the Virginia and Truckee Railroad.
The V&T built 35 of these cars from 1869-1870, using kits from the Kimball Mfg. Co. in San Francisco.
Paint records are non-existent, but these cars were likely initially painted the same brown that the CP was using at the time. They may have been painted slate around 1872, and may have been painted yellow some time before 1880. They were likely painted red in 1880.
Average weight is about 13750 lbs. 15 ton capacity.
